A Mymix Mates Spring Picnic Adventure: Cupcakes, Sunshine & Sprinkles!

A Mymix Mates Spring Picnic Adventure: Cupcakes, Sunshine & Sprinkles!

It was a bright, breezy spring morning in the Mymix Kitchen, and the sun was shining through the window just right — the kind of day that made you want to run, laugh, and eat cupcakes in the grass.

Whizzy the Whisk twirled in excitement.
“Guess what kind of day it is, team?”
Rush the Brush zipped across the counter. “Picnic day?! I love picnic day!”

Flex the Spatula stretched out long and wide. “Let’s bake something special — something classic, sweet, and perfect for sharing.”

Scoopy the Scoop landed with a soft thud on the flour jar. “Cupcakes it is! Vanilla with blue icing and rainbow sprinkles!”

All four Mymix Mates clapped their hands (and handles) and got to work. After all, a picnic day called for the perfect picnic treat — and sometimes, when you’ve got a day full of sunshine, friends, and outdoor fun, it’s okay to enjoy a sweet treat made the traditional way!

🧁 Vanilla Cupcakes with Aqua Icing & Rainbow Sprinkles

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup self-raising flour

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 125g softened butter

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ cup milk

For the icing:

  • 1½ cups icing sugar

  • 2 tbsp softened butter

  • 1–2 tbsp milk

  • A few drops of aqua blue food colouring

  • Rainbow sprinkles (the more, the merrier!)

👩🍳 Let's Mix It Up!

Flex the Spatula read the instructions while Scoopy lined up the ingredients.

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy — Whizzy took charge of that!

  3. Add the eggs and vanilla one at a time, whisking after each.

  4. Mix in the flour and milk gently until smooth — that was Flex’s specialty.

  5. Scoop the batter into cupcake cases — Scoopy’s moment to shine!

  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden on top. Let them cool completely.

While the cupcakes cooled, it was time to whip up the aqua blue icing. Rush stirred the icing sugar, butter, milk, and food colouring until it looked like a swirly spring sky.

“Time for sprinkles!” Rush yelled, doing a happy twirl and sending a shower of colour across the bench.

They carefully decorated each cupcake, topping them with bright rainbow sprinkles that sparkled in the sunlight.

“These are just the right amount of sweet,” said Flex. “And perfect for days when you're running, climbing, and exploring outside!”

As the sun began to set, the Mymix Mates sat quietly in the grass beside their picnic basket.
“Today was a day full of sunshine, laughter, and sprinkles,” said Scoopy with a content sigh.

“And cupcakes!” added Rush.

“And story-worthy memories,” said Whizzy.

Flex smiled. “That’s what life’s all about — mixing up joy, together.”
